The standard rooms (2): Smaller than the large deluxe rooms, also graded 4 star but with only bath or shower. The view from these rooms are also not as spectacular as the other rooms, but more than cosy for a one night stay. The family suite also falls under this category, consisting of two bedrooms with two bathrooms, the perfect fit for a party traveling with a child or family member.

Executive or Honeymoon suite (1): If you would like to have your breath taken away, this is just for you. This room has it's own water features, spa bath, private patio area and garden, secluded from the other rooms, a perfect hide away for honeymooners.

Cottage (1): Situated 300 m from the main establishment this self contained cottage offers two on suite bedrooms, a lounge area, kitchenette and outside braai, perfect for the traveler wanting to stay for numerous nights doing their own thing. All the facilities offered by Cosmos Cuisine are available to guests using this option.

THE HOMESTEAD

There are currently 3 lodges at Lalibela. Whilst the standard of accommodation at Lentaba Lodge, Mark's Camp and Tree Tops are the same, each has its own unique character. At all three lodges, secluded thatched chalets are placed where magnificent indigenous gardens merge into the surrounding bush. Each en-suite unit has a private observation deck to make the most of the views. The lodges also boast a large lounge, viewing deck and a sunny swimming pool where you can spend a lazy afternoon. They also have an outdoor dining 'boma' for fireside dinners and open-air brunches, as well as stylish indoor dining areas.

Mark's Camp
The stone and thatch chalets and main lodge of Mark’s Camp are decorated in a relaxed Pan-African style. This lodge sleeps up to 20 guests in four individual chalets and four family chalets. Each comfortably furnished chalet has an en-suite bathroom and air-conditioning for those warm summer nights. The chalets open up onto a private deck with views over the surrounding bush.

Between game drives, guests can relax in the large lounge, bird watch from the viewing decks or laze around the swimming pool. Mark’s Camp has an outdoor dining “boma” for fireside dinners and open-air brunches, as well as a gracious indoor dining area.

Mark's Camp is perfect for families travelling with young children. The 3 family rooms & 1 family suite can sleep up to 10 adults and 8 children.

An exciting children's programme is offered at this lodge.

Lentaba Lodge
Lentaba, the "lodge on the hillside", sleeps 16 people in eight secluded thatched chalets, placed where magnificent indigenous gardens merge into the surrounding bush. Each en-suite unit has a private observation deck to make the most of the views over the valley bushveld. Each chalet has air-conditioning as well as a ceiling fan.

The main lodge is decorated in a traditional safari style and boasts a large lounge, viewing deck and a sunny swimming pool where you can spend a lazy afternoon.

The outdoor dining "boma" has a commanding view of a waterhole which is spotlit after dark for night game viewing. There is also a stylish indoor dining area. Brunch is served al fresco on the main viewing deck.
 

Tree Tops
Tree Tops differs from the other lodges in that it is a tented camp. The luxury safari tents perched high on thatched platforms at "tree top" level are joined by raised walkways and offer spectacular views over the thickly-wooded valley. The rooms, with their canvas walls and thatched roofs have huge window areas and give guests the feeling of being right in the bush. Each air-conditioned room has a private veranda where guests can sit and relax in privacy.

As with the other lodges, Tree Tops lodge has a large lounge and open-air dining deck with a view over a small waterhole. Guests can sun bathe around the swimming pool or relax in the shaded gazebo.

Special care and consideration was taken during the construction of Tree Tops lodge to minimise the impact on the pristine vegetation in the valley. Tree Tops sleeps 10 people in 5 rooms.

RIVERDENE

Riverdene Lodge sleeps a total of 18 guests. Rooms are fully air-conditioned, all feature television, telephone and small lounge area. Each en-suite sandstone bathroom has a 'his' and 'hers' vanity basin, separate shower and bath. Private balconies lead onto the landscaped gardens. The two elegantly furnished casual lounges and glorious sunroom, as well as a magnificent rim flow swimming pool entice guests to relax and restore their energies. The lounge opens onto a spacious outdoor barbecue area. As with all the lodges at Shamwari, guests receive personal attention from their assigned rangers for the duration of their stay. We also have a deck lapa overlooking the river.

BAYETHE TENTED LODGE

"By-ye-ti", the welcoming salutation you will receive on your arrival at this splendid stone walled and thatch roofed lodge. Absorb the pulse of the African bush from the viewing deck, framed by riverine trees and overlooking river pools where antelope venture a twilight drink and crowned eagles glide on the darkening sky. While sitting next to the boma fire, allow it’s crackling, a nightjar and the distant howl of a jackal to serenade you into relaxation. Bayethe Lodge offers the ultimate in luxury, tented accommodation. Each of the nine tents are nestled along the bed of the river, camouflaged under trees allowing ample privacy and unsurpassed comforts. Each tent is air-conditioned and heated and has an en-suite bathroom, shower, private plunge pool and viewing deck. Early morning and evening game viewing drives in open land rovers as well as guided nature walks and bird watching are all part of this magnificent experience.
