Nestling at the foot of the Langeberg Mountains,
Swellendam has much to offer visitors who have an
interest in history, nature and outdoor activities.
Situated on the N2, approximately 240km from both
Cape Town in the west and George in the east,
Swellendam is the perfect choice for a halfway
stopover or as a base from which to explore the
area.
Swellendam offers a variety of accommodation to suit
every taste. This range includes one hotel, luxury
guest houses, Bed and Breakfast establishments,
chalets, caravan and camping facilities as well as
self-catering cottages on farms in the area.
Rainfall is spread over the year (55% winter and 45%
summer). There is little wind and temperatures are
moderate. There is no shortage of water and gardens
are lush and luxuriant. The cost of living is
reasonable and the town is clean and efficiently and
well run.
The people are friendly and there is no political
strife with a virtual absence of serious crime.

Swellendam Country Lodge is a guesthouse in
the heart of the Overberg District of the
Western Cape, South Africa. The guesthouse
is situated on the fringe of the town of
Swellendam, it is a well-liked base for
exploring this beautiful part of the
country. Swellendam is a two hours' drive
from Cape Town, and bordering on the Garden
Route and the Route 62.
There are many compelling reasons to visit
Swellendam Country Lodge. The guest house
itself has a unique atmosphere. The stylish
characteristic interior is a combination of
classic charm and modern style. The guest
rooms are situated in a beautiful landscaped
garden where you will enjoy the wide range
of birds, trees, fruit and flowers. On warm
summer days, the large sparkling swimming
pool is a refreshment not to be missed.

Swellendam Country Lodge has six comfortable
guest rooms. In the garden, separate from
the main house, are four rooms. Another two
garden-rooms are situated on the position of
the former coach-house – ‘die waenhuis'. The
accommodation is surrounded by yellowwood
trees, fruit trees and palms. A friendly
environment with a variety of colourful
South African plants and birds to enjoy.
There is a secluded swimming pool in the
garden.
The guest rooms have an atmosphere of
natural charm, classic beauty combined with
modern comfort. Stylish bedrooms, decorated
with taste and an eye for detail. All rooms
of our B&B have a private entrance and an
own veranda overlooking the beautiful
garden. Bathroom en-suite with shower (some
with bath and separate shower), quality beds
with percale linen, tea/coffee tray, heater,
hair dryer, etc. Most of the rooms have a
mini-bar, and a ceiling-fan, some rooms have
television (SABC, e-tv, M-net).
